I had been in an extremely casual guild and classic gold we cleared it no difficulty in maybe 2 raids. And then I farmed it for 6 months straight. This was not cool, at all. The sartharion struggle (particularly with 3 dragons up) though, that was very enjoyable. This fight was how the fights in Naxx should happen to be tuned. Not too. I made in BC so when I came back I had to rebuilt a guild and Naxx was an enjoyable challenge for a new raid in levelling gear.
We spent a couple months making it on farm, other raids like Ulduar supplied a wonderful challenge when we had our roster firmed up and functioning together.Not every raid is supposed to be a loony hard challenge for the top tier raiders.Blizzard was confronting a reasonable amount of criticism from gamers at the time for having spent a great deal of resources in raids that were experienced by hardly any players. They began to deal with this at Wotlk and while I believe they finally went too far with LFR and catch-up mechanics, re-releasing Naxx as a more accessible entry level raid was one of their better efforts in this area imo.I feel as I’m the one person who enjoyed the Argent championship, but full disclosure that I took a break during TBC and arrived back just before Icecrown dropped so it’s not like it was the only raid.The tournament was dumb from a lore perspective.
We had this significant invasion happening, we eventually made it to ICC and are ready to confront Arthas. Lets forget about this and have a tournament!And now the biggest reason why the raid sucked: It had been the very first raid which introduced normal/heroic variations to a lockout level (in Ulduar that you chose to play with an encounter in normal/heroic which was it). You had to conduct the raid 4 times a week: 10 man normal & heroic, 25 man ordinary & heroic. You doubled the cheap classic wow gold raiding compared to prior raids.Itemization suffered from this as well with normal/heroic models. It had been lazy.And for me personally the limited tries in heroic was a shit thing. You may only have 50 wipes within the whole instance. After that”good bye, return next week”.
It made the raids more stressful, because every death wasn’t just a”I fucked up cost us a time – lets go again” but it became a”Shit, I simply lost us a try, perhaps we will not have sufficient tries left to clear the instance”.
