Our Goal
Chapters are the heart of Student Scientists. We strongly believe that bringing together like-minded people fosters the greatest environment for success. Through chapters, we aim to generate this environment for students at institutions around the world. In our mission to build the young scientists of today, our chapters allow students direct access to a number of resources and opportunities.
These student-led chapters are composed of dedicated students who have the desire to improve. There are three main goals for chapters:
- To promote a community of passionate students
- To share relevant resources for student success
- To champion the achievements of student scientists in the community
In coordination with chapter leadership, we also provide professional and personal development resources exclusively for Student Scientists members. Finally, chapters are designed to complement existing programs and resources at the host institution. Therefore, chapters address direct areas of need for students and are tailored to the group’s general needs and expectations.

Student Scientists Network
As a Student Scientists member you will receive access to our exclusive members group. Connect, network, and share with students who want to make an impact. Join this exclusive group of dedicated students from around the country!
Local Community
At the heart of scientific development is community and communication. Actually, 63% of students say having an intentional group of STEM students that meets regularly on campus would improve their undergraduate science experience. Students will have the opportunity to share their current, past, or desired research projects. Chapters share practical resources relevant to the group’s needs and may also host guest speakers from their institution or outside.
Exclusive Resources
Chapter members have access to both in-person and online resources designed to build the student for success. Resources include tutorials, interviews, webinars, research and related opportunities, professional and personal development, how-to videos, articles, and much more!
Research Symposium
As part of our effort to champion the achievements of student scientists, we work closely with chapters to host their own Student Scientists Research Symposium. During these events, students will get a chance to share their oral or poster presentations with members of the larger student body. This is a great opportunity for student growth and preparation for their future careers. Chapters are encouraged to host one symposium per academic year.
