SELMA, Ind. — Blue River girls basketball has been a local Class A power for the past three seasons Mut 22 coins. The Vikings (3-2) have won three consecutive sectional titles and a 2020 regional championship since head coach Terry Bales took over the program in the 2017-18 season. Prior to Bales, Blue River’s last sectional title came in 1984-85.
Bales began the season with a 72-30 record as of last year, with his 22-4 (9-0 in the Mid Eastern Conference) mark as his best to date. The Vikings lost two of their key players to Mallory Cross and Abby Thornburgh from this group, however it was Bales’ team was tasked this season with replacing 14.5 score, 6.8 per game in rebounds as well as 5.4 assist per game.
However, Blue River still has senior center Ally Madden, one of the best players in the region’s interior and sharpshooting junior Maci Chamberlin as well as solid depth to allow them to put together another tournament run.
Though four consecutive sectional championships could set the school’s record and set a new record, they Vikings still have a long way to go towards being a definitive postseason team. “I don’t know as we’re not yet ready to expand. I’m hoping that we will become a team that’s capable of doing this.
I don’t believe we’re in the right place yet,” Bales said of the team’s chances at winning a sectional championship. “We’ve to figure out how to defend better … make sure not to commit the mistakes that aren’t forced buy madden coins. So we’ve got some growing to do. Certainly (a divisional name) is where we’d like to get.”
